Child and Adolescent Service Director

Dr. Axler is responsible for the clinical supervision for the Child and Adolescent Unit as well as the medical function of Peachford Hospital. Prior to joining the staff at Peachford, Dr. Axler served as the Regional Psychiatric Medical Director for United Behavioral Health. He has been a Clinical Instructor and Supervisor for the Emory Department of Child Psychiatry and has worked at Parkwood Psychiatric Hospital and Brawner Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Axler received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and continued with his residency training at The Institute of Living and his pediatric internship at Harford Hospital, University of Connecticut Medical School.  Dr. Axler completed his training with a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.  Dr. Axler is board certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry.

He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Society and Georgia Council on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
